Among the reinforcement schedules, variable ratio is the most productive and the most resistant to extinction. Fixed interval is the least productive and the easiest to extinguish (Figure 1).

There's a handful of classic production tricks that pop up everywhere in dance music the sidechained kick and bassline, the filter-sweep riser, and the arpeggiated lead synth line are all instantly recognisable techniques that appear in countless Zen World has singled out another musical trope that he believes is the most overused production technique in dance music this year the trance gate. This is the effect you'll find applied to synths and vocals in genres such as trance, house, techno, and EDM, wherein a noise gate is rapidly opened and closed over a sustained sound to produce a stuttered, rhythmic trance gate technique takes its name from where it originated, in trance music. While the effect was popularised by artists like Tiësto in the '90s and '00s, Zen World argues that it's recently made a resurgence and can now be heard everywhere in contemporary dance, pointing to tracks from Mau P, Meduza and Fred again.. that feature gated synths and vocals. While we can think of several contemporary artists that have also made use of the trance gate effect Bicep, Ross From Friends and Moderat spring to mind we're not sure that we'd be so quick to label the effect as "overused". It's a worthy technique that can sound great if deployed in the right context, bringing a special kind of rhythmic, percussive flair to loops and samples; we're not tired of it just World goes on to outline several routes that producers can take to achieve this sound, including a nifty method that uses the settings for Ableton's Warp modes to slice up a sample and reduce the decay of each downside of this method is that it makes it difficult to apply additional effects such as reverb or delay in the signal path before the gate, a technique Zen World later demonstrates when showing viewers how to use Ableton's stock panning plugin Autopan to create a gated sound. By adding a reverb with a long tail to the signal path before the gate is applied, the overall effect begins to sound even more impactful. Zen World also runs us through several third-party plugins that can be used to implement the trance gate, including Xfer's LFOtool and Kilohearts' aptly-named Trance Gate. He also shows viewers how to program gates directly into their synth patches within Xfer's Serum synth plugin. There's a ton of plugins out there that can be used to create this sound. In addition to the aforementioned Trance Gate, we'd recommend three free plugins that make creating rhythmic effects like this quick and easy Alex Hilton's A1TriggerGate and Audiomodern's Gatelab are both worth downloading, while HY-Plugins HY-ESG mixes things up by using Euclidean sequencing to control the gate you're in need of some free music samples to run into your trance gate, why not download our trance essentials sample pack?Subscribe to Zen World's YouTube channel or visit his more How to create rhythmic stuttering and gating effects Want all the hottest music and gear news, reviews, deals, features and more, direct to your inbox? A new federal study identifies the 12 symptoms that most distinctly characterize long COVID but falls short of explaining why approximately 10% of individuals who experience even a mild COVID-19 infection suffer from health issues that can persist for months or even National Institutes of Health’s RECOVER program analyzed nearly 10,000 participants and identified the dozen most frequently reported ailments out of approximately 200 previously recognized symptoms of long COVID. The 12 conditions range from brain fog and heart palpitations to sexual impotence and digestive disorders. Despite these findings, scientists still don’t know what causes long COVID, why it only affects some people, or even how to treat and diagnose it. The team behind the study said that while the investigation is inconclusive, it provides scientists a “common language” for beginning work toward treatments. “Now that we’re able to identify people with long COVID, we can begin doing more in-depth studies to understand the biological mechanisms at play,” co-author Andrea Foulkes, a professor at Harvard Medical School, said in a press release. “One of the big takeaways from this study is the heterogeneity of long COVID long COVID is not just one syndrome; it’s a syndrome of syndromes.” The 12 key symptoms identified in the study were Loss of smell or taste Post-exertional malaise Chronic cough Brain fog Thirst Palpitations Chest pain Fatigue Dizziness Gastrointestinal issues Issues with sexual desire or capacity Abnormal movements, such as tremors, unintended movements, or rigidity But those are not the only symptoms that define long COVID, the researchers said. Patients may have one of those symptoms, or many — or others not on the list — and suffer long-term consequences of the coronavirus. “Sometimes I hear people say, Oh, everybody’s a little tired,’ ” Dr. Leora Horwitz, co-principal investigator for the RECOVER Clinical Science Core at NYU Langone Health, said in the release. “No, there’s something different about people who have long COVID, and that’s important to know.” The new research, published Thursday in the Journal of the American Medical Association, involved more than 8,600 adults who had COVID-19 at different stages of the pandemic, compared to 1,100 who were not infected. The team identified 37 common symptoms that persisted after six months in COVID-19 patients compared to those not infected by the virus. Of that number, the 12 in the study were the most frequently reported. About 20% of the people who had COVID met the criteria for suffering from long COVID — also known as Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection, or PASC — at the six-month mark. “Americans living with long COVID want to understand what is happening with their bodies,” Dr. Rachel L. Levine, assistant secretary for health, said in the release. More than 100 million Americans have been infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. The study found that persistent health issues were more commonly reported among individuals infected before the omicron variant emerged in December 2021. Rates of long COVID were also higher among the unvaccinated and those who experienced reinfection. Encouragingly, the risk of long COVID appears to be decreasing. The most recent data from the Census Bureau’s “Household Pulse Survey,” conducted through a monthly online questionnaire since April 2020, indicated that as of May 8, 10% of adults previously infected with COVID-19 reported long COVID symptoms, down from in June of the previous year. According to the new research, this proportion drops to approximately 6% after six months. “This study is an important step toward defining long COVID beyond any one individual symptom,” said Horwitz. “This approach — which may evolve over time — will serve as a foundation for scientific discovery and treatment design.” Reach Aidin Vaziri avaziri
I came across with this sentence and it cast me doubt the usage of "most" and "the most" The sentence states "But what I remembered most is moving a lot" Would it change the meaning of the sentence if I interchange "most" with "the most"? I am a little confused about when to use these words. Previous to this post I searched for the difference between these words but I think I need not only the definition but examples to distinguish their usage. Thank you asked Jul 6, 2015 at 2059 6 "But what I remembered most is moving a lot" is correct, with or without "the". Although "the most" is the superlative, preferable. Here, "most" is used as an adverb modifying the verb "remember", meaning "to the greatest extent". There may be other examples, where it can mean "extremely" as in the following"it was most kind of you", "that is most probably correct". As an adjective while qualifying a noun, it takes "the" as in the following example Here's the most expensive book I ever bought. As a noun, "most" takes the definite article. For example, "The most that you can do is to try again." As noun The most I can offer for the house is $100,000. Don't put forth the argument adjective & article combination to be noun. The superlative with "most" is sometimes used when there is no ideas of comparison, but merely a desire to indicate a quality in a very high degree. Grammar Ref. This is most convenient. This is a most wonderful sight. It was a most eloquent speech. It should be noted that even though 'most' is in superlative form, 'the' is not used before it. Sometimes, 'most' goes without article or sometimes it takes 'a' instead of 'the'. In your example it is an adverb; and without 'the' amply conveys what is is no idea of comparison. answered Jul 7, 2015 at 1031 8 I believe when we use the 'the' its more based on perspective than fact. This also depends on where you place your words in a sentence and which words they are as well. The 'the' article places importance on the object that the speaker or writer is speaking or writing about. 'A' does not do this, it just states that out of many ... there was a... you can fill in the blanks as you see fit. This sentence would be incorrect "the most countries I've been to, are 10". We would need to add something to this sentence so it would look like this "the most number of countries I've been to..." However, we can use, "the most frustrating thing about... is..." As we did last year, Badger247 will profile several key players throughout the summerThe Wisconsin football team's roster has a little bit of everything ahead of Luke Fickell's first season as head coach. It has stars, intriguing transfers and plenty of veterans. There are also players looking to take another step and younger players who could contribute. As we did last year, Badger247 will profile several key players throughout the summer before training camp begins. This year, we're starting at 40 and working our way forward. Factors include how a player performed in 2022, their expected role this season and the depth of their respective position groups. 40 Braedyn Locke, backup quarterback Photo Evan Flood, 247Sports Sixth-year SMU transfer Tanner Mordecai is Wisconsin's starter, but if anything happens to him throughout the season, the Badgers have a solid No. 2 to turn to. Braedyn Locke, a redshirt freshman, took firm control of that job during spring ball. He routinely made sound decisions, put passes where they needed to be and understands the Air Raid offense as well as anybody on the roster. Locke spent his true freshman season at Mississippi State, and he absorbed plenty about the offense while learning from head coach Mike Leach, an Air Raid pioneer who passed away in December following complications from a heart condition. Leach was one of UW offensive coordinator Phil Longo's mentors. "I was very, very blessed to play for a guy like coach Leach at Mississippi State," Locke said. "He taught me a lot about keeping the game simple and trusting your preparation and just being a smart football player." Locke, who didn’t appear in a game last season, finished his time at Rockwall High School with 128 touchdown passes a Texas Class 6A record and 11,182 yards passing second-most in Class 6A history. Longo recruited Locke while he was on North Carolina's coaching staff. "Braedyn has a unique, advantageous background," Longo said. "He came from the Air Raid system, so all of the Air Raid stuff we're doing here is a natural, 'Hey, here's what we call it.'"39 Cade Yacamelli/Jackson Acker, running backs Photo Dan Podell, 247Sports We'll see how much the Badgers use a third running back this fall — opportunities will be limited behind Braelon Allen and Chez Mellusi — but they need to have someone they can trust in this role. Redshirt freshman Cade Yacamelli and redshirt sophomore Jackson Acker will continue battling for the spot in training camp. Yacamelli, who spent part of last year as a safety, impressed running backs coach Devon Spalding with his versatility this spring. "I think he's a natural at the running back position," Spalding said. "I think he plays fast, he has a lot of speed, he shows good versatility and catches the football well. I am excited to be able to work with him and continue to watch him grow at the position." Acker has the most game experience of the running backs behind Allen and Mellusi. The 6-foot-1, 240-pounder played in 12 games as UW's fullback last season after beginning his collegiate career as a running back. He has good speed for his size and, like Yacamelli, showed he can be a threat as a pass catcher. "We'll find ways to use him," Fickell said. "It might be some tailback. It might be some H-back. As of right now, we're having him learn multiple things. He's a guy that we can use in many different ways." 38 Jonas Duclona, cornerback Photo Evan Flood, 247Sports Jonas Duclona enrolled early to participate in spring ball and took advantage of his opportunities. The true freshman started with UW's third-team defense but elevated quickly and finished camp with the second-team defense. A late flip from Cincinnati, where Fickell spent the last six seasons as head coach, Duclona has intriguing physical tools. The 5-foot-10, 184-pounder has long arms, the speed to hang with receivers on deep routes and is physical in press coverage. The Badgers added transfer cornerback Nyzier Fourqurean to shore up depth concerns in May, but they'll still need one of their true freshmen to contribute this fall. Duclona has put himself in that position early on and will look to build on an impressive spring during training camp. 37 Vinny Anthony, wide receiver Photo Brad Fedie, 247Sports Vinny Anthony could be higher on this list, but the Badgers' depth at wide receiver makes it tough to rank where everyone stacks up. We'll stick with this for now. Anthony, who played in 10 games as a true freshman last season, put his speed on display several times throughout the spring. He started with UW's third offense but moved up to the second team midway through the spring. "He has done some really good things," wide receivers coach Mike Brown said. "He has been catching the ball consistently, he has a dimension of speed that has shown up and I think he's done a lot of really good things." The Badgers added four transfer wide receivers Williams, Bryson Green, Will Pauling and Quincy Burroughs and returned their top three from last season Chimere Dike, Skyler Bell and Keontez Lewis. Redshirt freshmen Tommy McIntosh and Chris Brooks Jr. also flashed throughout the spring. As many as six wide receivers could be in a rotation this fall. Expect competition to remain high during fall training camp, with Anthony right in the middle of it. "This offense requires speed, and I know that I have a good amount of speed," Anthony, who could also have a role as a kick/punt returner, said. "I feel like being in the slot or on the outside, I can use that. That's what has helped me move up."
